Optical engineering
FROM CONCEPT TO HARDWARE

We turn product requirements into validated optomechanical designs, from concept and specification through supplier selection and design verification. We integrate with your R&D process, then step out cleanly when the work is done.

Selected Work

We solve the problems between concept and delivered precision optics.

Manufacturing • Laser Processing

PRECISE LENS ASSEMBLY FOR REMOTE WELDING

In order to win funding, a customer needed a customized precision lens assembly for remote welding, taken from design through manufacture to lab test on a tight schedule. We delivered finished, tested assemblies, managing the full path from optical design to assembled, packaged hardware.

Metrology • LAB

PIC output characterization

A photonics OEM needed single-mode spots of matched size at 410, 490 and 650 nm in the sample plane. We designed and sourced the PIC, built a through-focus characterization setup and studied processing-window parameters against mode-field diameter and beam quality across the spectrum, qualifying the source for the application.

Historical demonstrator

ABBE REFRACTOMETER FROM 1876 WITH PPE RELAY OPTICS

To keep historical instruments accessible without risking damage, the german optical museum needed a way for visitors to look through the original microscopes. We designed and assembled a custom optical relay that connects visitors to the interactive exhibit — letting them view through the same instruments used in the era of Abbe and Zeiss.

Markets we work in

From high-volume inspection to one-off scientific instruments — the sectors where our optical engineering has been put to use.

Semiconductor inspection & lithography

Precision lens design and optical modeling for systems that demand accuracy.

AR / VR / MR

Integration of optical components into complete, functional systems that meet real-world requirements.

Microscopy & life sciences

From simulation to hardware, we build and test optical prototypes that prove the concept works.

Laser material processing

Beam delivery and beam-shaping optics engineered for the power densities and spot-size targets these processes demand.

aerospace

Optical systems for demanding markets like aerospace environments, where ruggedness and stability are non-negotiable.

Automotive & sensing

Optics for automotive sensing and imaging applications, designed for volume manufacture and real-world operating ranges.

Questions

Straight answers about how we work, what we need, and what you get.

How do we start?

You bring the problem. We start with a scoping call to understand the requirements. Then we propose a clear path forward with no hidden steps.

What do you need?

A target specification and the physical constraints. We can work from a sketch on a napkin or a formal document. The clearer the problem, the faster the solution.

Who owns the IP?

You do. All designs, models, and documentation produced for your project belong to you. We transfer everything cleanly when the engagement ends.

Can you prototype it?

Yes. We manage the full path from design to assembled and tested hardware. Our network in Jena gives us direct access to precision manufacturers and metrology labs.
